LRC lawyers appeared in South Africa’s Constitutional Court to defend more than 90 victims of a lending scheme that operated throughout South Africa from 2006 to 2009.  In Absa Bank v Moore, Moore family members lost their home when they signed forms for a loan, unknowingly authorizing the sale of their home by the finance company to a third party.  When the Moores challenged the validity of the sale, the Johannesburg High Court held that the transfer was invalid.  The decision was appealed, various aspects of the ruling were upheld in the Supreme Court of Appeal, and the case is now before the Constitutional Court for a final ruling.
